Date – Sunday, November 30
Distance – 10k
Time – 59.43 minutes
Place – 88th overall. 15th in my age group. If I had the results from the Turkey Trot I would have placed in the top 5 for my age group
Start/Finish Location – Stanley Park Pavilion by Malkin Bowl
Charity – The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Notes – I originally registered for the half marathon but downgraded to the 10k because I didn’t feel trained up nor was I interested in gambling with the weather; a half marathon in the rain is miserable.
It was clear, but cold and icy. I ran slower. The route was a there-and-back-again on the east side of Stanley Park’s seawall and seemed shorter for that reason. I had lots of energy at the end.
Next year I’d prefer to register for the Fall Classic and experience a different route. I’m getting a bit bored of the seawall.
There was ambulance incident along the route and someone was getting chest compressions (yikes). It looked like a heavy-set woman but a bystander said it was a man. It was not confirmed if the person was a runner or not.
